Verified by Solid

What the badge means, and how to check it yourself

When a shop shows as verified by Solid, a person at Solid checked that business by hand and vouches for its name. Nothing about it is bought: the check is part of every Solid Business plan, and it is never sold separately.

What Solid checks

It is not a review of what a shop sells, and it does not make a payment reversible. Payments on Solana are final, verified or not.

Published on Solana, if the shop chooses

A verified shop can ask Solid to publish its verification on Solana, through Solana Foundation's attestation program. Any wallet, app or person can then check a shop's wallet against Solid's claim, with one read of the chain and nothing from Solid's servers. The Solid app does this before you send to an address.

It is the shop's choice, and it is public. The claim puts the shop's name beside its payout wallet where anyone can see it, so anyone can also see the payments into that wallet. Solid publishes only for shops that switch it on. Switching it off asks Solid to withdraw the claim; the chain still keeps the record that it existed.

A claim comes down when it stops being true: the shop switches it off, renames, moves its payout, stops paying for Solid Business or closes its account. Every claim also lapses on its own a year after it was made, unless Solid publishes it again.

How to read a claim

Solid is an issuer on the Solana Attestation Service. A claim about a wallet sits at an address derived from the wallet itself, so you can find it without asking anybody.

Fields
name (text), verified_at (seconds since 1970)
Claim address
The program address for the seeds "attestation", the credential, the schema and the shop's wallet.

A claim counts only if the account belongs to the program, sits at that address, was signed by the issuer above, and has not passed its expiry. Solid's own code that reads it is open: core/shopClaim.ts in the Solid repository.

Check a wallet

Paste the address you are about to pay. This reads Solid's claim about it from Solana, the same read any wallet or app can make.

Something wrong?

If a shop shows as verified and should not, tell us at security@sendsolid.app. Removing a verification needs no proof beyond a reason, because it is the safe direction.
